Job Description
Title: Cleaner
Reporting to: Finance and Administration Officer
Duty Station: Karachi
Unit: Operations
Section: Administration
Summary of Key Functions
The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the office premises. This includes daily cleaning tasks, ensuring the office environment is neat, safe, and conducive to work, and assisting with maintaining a hygienic workplace for all staff and visitors.
Roles and Responsibilities
Cleaning and Maintenance
Clean and maintain office floors, workstations, meeting rooms, restrooms, and common areas.
Dust and wipe office furniture, shelves, and equipment as required.
Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash in accordance with office policies.
Ensure that cleaning supplies and materials are properly stored and replenished when needed.
Regularly clean kitchen areas, ensure cleanliness of refrigerators, and dispose of food waste.
Restroom Maintenance
Regularly clean and sanitise restrooms, ensuring supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and hand towels are always available.
Ensure that all restroom areas are kept hygienic, stocked, and clean throughout the day.
General Support
Assist with the set-up and arrangement of office events, meetings, or training sessions.
Help in maintaining the cleanliness of the exterior office premises.
Report any issues with facilities, such as plumbing or electrical problems, to the relevant person.
Health and Safety
Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
Ensure that any cleaning agents used are safe and applied according to instructions.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
No formal education required; basic literacy is preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in a cleaning or janitorial role is desirable but not essential.
Skills:
Ability to perform cleaning tasks efficiently and with attention to detail.
Knowledge of cleaning products and procedures.
Basic communication skills to understand instructions and report issues.
