Background of the Study
Refractive errors are among the most common causes of visual impairment globally, and their impact is particularly significant in underprivileged communities where access to corrective services is limited. Children in such areas face challenges in education and overall quality of life due to uncorrected refractive errors.
Background of Vision Trust
Vision Trust is a global organization committed to eliminating avoidable blindness and visual impairment. Through its innovative projects and evidence-based interventions, Vision Trust empowers underprivileged communities with access to quality eye care services.
About the Project
The Inclusive School Eye Health Project aims to improve access to comprehensive eye health services for school children, in underprivileged areas of Karachi. The project focuses on school screenings, capacity building, and referral system establishment.
We are seeking a qualified consultant to lead the RARE (Rapid Assessment of Refractive Error) survey using specialized software for data collection. This survey will provide critical insights into refractive error prevalence and needs, forming the foundation for targeted interventions.
Objective of the Study
To determine the prevalence of uncorrected refractive errors, spectacle coverage, and barriers to uptake of refractive error and presbyopia services among school children in underprivileged areas of Karachi.
