Job Summary:
A humanitarian and Development organization is hiring a Site Engineer for the Education Project who will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising minor infrastructure activities at the school and community level, ensuring safe, inclusive, and quality learning environments. The role involves close coordination with community stakeholders, contractors, and project teams to support safe and welcoming schools through physical improvements and assistive facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee small-scale school infrastructure improvements, ensuring quality supervision of civil works like ramps, boundary walls, and WASH facilities.
- Support the provision and installation of assistive devices and promote safety measures for inclusive learning environments.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies; prepare BoQs, technical drawings, and work plans in line with project standards.
- Track construction progress, monitor material usage, and ensure contractor compliance through proper documentation.
- Engage with SMCs, PTCs, and local authorities; facilitate community involvement in infrastructure planning and execution.
- Ensure all infrastructure work meets safety, environmental, and safeguarding standards, with a focus on gender-responsive and inclusive design.
Eligibility:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in site supervision, preferably in education or development sector projects; experience in rural or low-resource settings is desirable.
- Knowledge of inclusive design, WASH in schools, community-based infrastructure, and local construction norms.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and other engineering tools.
- Strong planning, management, interpersonal, and communication skills, especially with communities and contractors.
- Ability to work independently across multiple field sites with a commitment to child protection, safeguarding, and gender equality.
