Overview

Jhpiego, a global leader in improving health care for women and families, seeks a Finance Assistant, based in Islamabad. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for implementing and maintaining an on-site financial and bookkeeping system required assuring the integrity and effective performance of the financial operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Review of the bank and cash payment vouchers and making sure that all the required supporting documents are duly attached and are in compliance with the JHPEIGO and applicable donors requirement including UNFPA.
  • Calculations and payment of travel advances travel expense reports, settle travel advances and make sure all expense supporting receipts are attached before submitting for payment approval. following up on uncleared advances
  • Preparing of bank payments voucher on Quick books
  • Scanning and photocopies of required financial record.
  • Update financial record keeping ,All kind financial voucher to be placed in proper file.
  • Closely monitoring of bank book and Making sure Bank has sufficient cash funds are available.
  • Checking and verifying payment vouchers before processing. Making sure these are approved.
  • Checking staff claims in detail before payments
  • Calculations and payment of advances to staff their reconciliations.
  • Petty cash / Imprest vouchers checking before payments
  • Processing bank transfer requests.
  • Facilitate in Physical Inventory check of all offices after every six months or at least annually, reconcile it with record and follow up with the inventory custodian to indentify missing, lost or damaged items.Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related, Masters or equivalent will be preferred.
  • Atleast 5 years of relevant working experience in accounting/financial management, preferably in the non-profit and/or development sector.
  • Knowledge and experience of QBE is essential. Proficiency in software applications, databases, spreadsheets including Microsoft Word, Excel, Accounting Package and Payroll
  • Proven ability to work individually and in a team.
  • Able to prioritize multiple competing tasks; Perform tasks correctly, quickly, and efficiently according to their relative urgency and importance.
  • Ability to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism
  • Willing to travel  upto 25% to provincial and field offices
