1.BACKGROUND Better Cotton (BCI) is the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme. Our mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment. Through our network of field-level partners, we have capacitated more than 2.4 million farmers in 22 countries on sustainable farming practices. More than a fifth of the world’s cotton is now grown under the Better Cotton Standard and our membership network includes more than 2,400 members.

In Pakistan, Better Cotton has been actively engaged in driving positive change within the cotton sector since 2010. Operating through a service level agreement with its dedicated country office, the organization has implemented the Better Cotton Standard and collaborated with local stakeholders to improve sustainability and livelihoods of cotton farmers not only in Pakistan but also in the Central Asia. These efforts have resulted in significant advancements, fostering the adoption of sustainable cotton cultivation practices and reducing environmental impact throughout the country.

Better Cotton in Pakistan is seeking a skilled consultant with expertise to develop a comprehensive process and practice manual for Better Cotton Pakistan. The manual must be designed and developed by collating and visualising the processes and workflows of each function at BCI Pakistan while simultaneously meeting the due diligence requirements of international donors. The consultant will work closely with Pakistan team for synthesizing functional information & approaches, collating the vision, objectives, implementation methodology, and key performance indicators, along with visualizing the workflows for each BCI Pakistan function to create a navigation guide of processes and workflows in the form of a handbook.

 PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES / TASKS/ METHODOLOGY

The Consultant will:

Develop a comprehensive workflow manual document encompassing vision, objective(s), implementation approach, key performance indicators, and process flow diagrams (maps) of functional activities. The manual will have sections of all the functions of BCI Pakistan.

Coordinate with Better Cotton teams to understand and elaborate the functions and synthesize and collate functional objectives and KPIs from the workplan and the country SOs for the manual. Also, the document and description of Theory of Change for BCI Pakistan will be provided by the Senior Country Manager.

Draft a document to reflect each function of Better Cotton Pakistan and their activities in a succinct and visual way.

Specific Tasks

The consultant will undertake the following tasks:

1. Collaborate with the Better Cotton Pakistan office specifically Senior Country Manager and Development and Partnerships Specialist to understand the objectives, context, and available resource materials for manual development.

2. Conduct thorough research and analysis to establish an understanding of the various Better Cotton functions in Pakistan.

3. Meet with function leads, and BC advisor to collate the functional and sub-functional operations, KPIs, and process maps. Presently Better Cotton Pakistan has the following functions: 1) Programmes (Capacity Building and Partnerships), 2) Standard System Integrity, 3) Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, 4) Demands and Engagement, 5) Digitalisation

4. Develop a comprehensive process and practice manual, including vision, objectives, implementation methodology, Key Performance Indicators, infographics, process flow diagrams of each of the afore-mentioned functions, visual map of functional inter- dependencies, theory of change, and BCI P&C and impacts.

The consultant will work in close collaboration with internal teams, under the supervision of the Development and Partnerships Specialist and Senior Country Manager of Better Cotton in Pakistan. Additionally, the consultant will maintain reporting with Development and Partnerships Specialist of BCI Pakistan. The consultant will establish clear understanding of BCI communication protocols. By leveraging the expertise of various teams and consultations, the consultant will gather essential information and develop the manual and required material effectively in compliance of BCI Communication guidelines.

3. EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

The Consultant must have hold following experience, skills & competencies:

1. Demonstrated experience in drafting and developing documents, and visual thinking.

2. High familiarity of developing process maps, intervention architectures, and infographics.

3. Proven track record in working with national and international organizations.

EVALUATION CRITERIA
