(SENIOR) MANAGER FOREST PROGRAMME / PROVINCIAL HEAD KHYBER-PAKHTUNKWA
Title: Manger Forest Conservation/Provincial Head
Grade: D2
Reporting line: Director Forest
Duty Station: WWF-Pakistan, Regional Office, Peshawar, KPK Operations: KPK with frequent traveling to other parts of Pakistan Type of Contract: Long term, renewable after one year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
General:
Responsible for overall technical, financial and administrative supervision of Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa regional programme in compliance with overall mission and objectives of the organization. He/she will be responsible for technical inputs; liaison and linkages; staff hiring, training and team building; concepts and proposal writing; programme planning, monitoring and reporting; vigilance; representation at various forums; research and resource mobilization.
Specific:

Lead the process of developing a clear direction for nature conservation in KPK, in line with WWF’s Global Practices, national and regional conservation priorities, commensurate with WWF-Pakistan’s five-year strategic plan, as may be applicable

Develop innovate concepts and proposals in consultation with the “Programme Development Team” to secure funding for priority conservation/development initiatives in the region with a strong focus on forest and wildlife

Coordinate and liaison with partners and donor agencies to promote the USP (unique selling proposition) of WWF while ensuring that WWF-Pakistan’s priorities and resource needs are considered by the major donors

Identify potential for local to regional interventions, assist in developing multi-year projects, and assist in securing the resources necessary to implement those initiatives for achieving nature conservation goals at desired level

Assist in developing and implementing a robust and efficient system of project / programme monitoring and evaluation i.e., KPIs for measuring progress and assessing the impact of WWF- Pakistan’s conservation activities at scale, providing real-time information for both internal as well as external use and reference

Ensure periodical compilation of conservation results as per envisaged goals and objectives of the regional projects /Programme. Propose project evaluation missions and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences, ideas and lessons learnt

Initiate and support targeted campaigns and activities responding to urgent, high priority conservation issues in the region

Pro-actively promote the activities and initiatives of WWF-Pakistan within and outside the network, ensuring optimal delivery of desired results at scale

Assist other employees and partner organizations in the region in developing conservation capacity to achieve agreed conservation goals and objectives. Also assess the long-term conservation capacity building needs and propose measures to meet such needs

Represent WWF - Pakistan at relevant provincial, national and international dialogues and forums to highlight priority conservation issues, create a favourable image of the organization and promote its efforts and position on various conservation and sustainable development related issues;

Highlight compelling stories from the field to promote WWF-Pakistan’s conservation efforts within and outside the WWF network and at all levels to create maximum impact

Maintain cordial working relationships with print and electronic media, journalists, editorial writers and columnists to enhance conservation efforts of WWF-Pakistan in the region as well as internationally.
Selection criteria:
Education & Work Experience
At least a Master degree in Natural Resource Management / a field related to biodiversity conservation, however, candidates having a PhD in a relevant subject shall be preferred;
07 years experience of working in natural resources management / biodiversity conservation / sustainable development sectors;
Experience of working in a multicultural / international environment will be an added
advantage.
Working Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent knowledge of the global and/or regional conservation arena, key players, and policy processes; strong commitment to conservation and development issues
Proven experience and leadership abilities in achieving conservation outcomes
Demonstrated ability to raise funding for conservation initiatives, familiarity with funding agencies, especially the Government and non-government aid agencies and corporate sector
Demonstrated ability in development, management and delivery of nature conservation projects; (ability to effectively manage and supervise people and projects and to plan, schedule and budget projects / initiatives);
Demonstrated experience in working in partnership with government, civil society and corporate sector to bring change
Excellent diplomatic and communication skills, including an ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals within and outside the WWF Network; ability in policy advocacy on sustainable resource management / nature conservation issues at national and international level;
Demonstrated ability to enter into complex policy, programme and funding partnerships with a range of stakeholders and partners
Demonstrated ability in leading both field and office-based team(s);Fluency in oral and written English is essential. Proficiency in other languages that are widely used at an international level is an asset. However fluency in local languages i.e.,Pushto, Hinko, Khowari etc;
International working experience, specifically in the coordination of a team/s of people with different cultural backgrounds, will be a benefit.
