Project Background:

A project in Swat District, KP, aims to address the root causes of violent extremism by promoting social cohesion, empowering youth and vulnerable groups, and creating sustainable pathways for peace and stability in the region through social entrepreneurship.

Project Duration: 9 Months

Key Role:

The Project Manager will play a key role in ensuring the successful planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Project planning activities, stakeholder Engagement and Coordination,Resource management, Supervision of team members for successful execution of activities, quality assurance, reporting, documentation, risk management

Roles & Responsibilities:

Throughout the project lifecycle, the Project Manager will be responsible for the following roles and responsibilities: 

Project Planning & Execution: 

  • Develop comprehensive detailed project implementation plan, timelines, and deliverables. 

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with Project Staff and donor. 

  • Ensure resource availability, allocate resources effectively, and manage project budgets. 

  • Coordinate with People and Culture Department, Procurement, Communications, M&E and develop and support them implement plans according to donor requirements. 

Project Activities implementation: 

  • Establish project implementation field office and social lab 

  • Selection of primary and secondary project beneficiaries under activity heads 

  • Mapping and Identification of the project implementation site. 

  • Support in implementation of social plans and businesses in project site 

  • Coordinate with psychologists, community mobilizers, master trainers and senior management to develop research methodologies, and data collection assessments and strategies. 

  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and synthesis of research findings, ensuring data integrity and quality. 

Risk Management & Problem Solving: 

  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies. 

  • Proactively resolve issues and bottlenecks, ensuring project milestones are achieved with timely communication with the Senior Management and Donors. 

Stakeholder Management: 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across teams, providing regular updates and status reports. 

  • Ensure alignment with the Donor’s expectations and organizational objectives. 

Team Leadership & Coordination: 

  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure project success. 

  • Provide clear direction, set priorities to ensure deliverables in time. 

Budget & Resource Management: 

  • Track activities and project expenditures and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness in consultation with the Project Team and Donors. 

  • Optimize resource allocation to enhance efficiency and performance. 

Performance Monitoring & Reporting: 

  • Monitor project activities using relevant tools and techniques. 

  • Prepare detailed project reports for senior management, analyzing key metrics and identifying areas for improvement. 

  • Ensure all projects meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and policies. 

Technical Skills, Requirements, Experience, and Qualifications 

Skills and Requirements: 

The ideal candidate for the Project Manager role should possess the following skills and competencies: 

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools. 

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other project management tools (MSProject, MS Planner, Jira, Asana, etc.) for documentation, reporting, and data analysis. 

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience in working with diverse stakeholders such as government agencies, universities, local communities, donors, and partners. 

  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams, providing strategic direction, and mentoring project staff. 

  • Knowledge of M&E processes, tools, and frameworks for tracking progress and measuring project impact. 

  • Experience in implementing pre- and post-project evaluations and research methodologies. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills to resolve challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle. 

  • Understanding of budget management, resource allocation, and procurement processes in compliance with organizational and donor policies (e.g., UN standards). 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports, project documentation, and presentations. 

  • Understanding of local socio-economic, psychological, and cultural factors that may impact project success. 

  • Ability to engage with local communities, gather input, and ensure that project activities align with community needs. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, preferably in the development sector or related fields. 

  • Proven track record of managing projects funded by international donors (e.g., UN, EU, etc.). 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams and working with diverse stakeholders (e.g., government bodies, NGOs, universities, local communities). 

  • Familiarity with the local context in Pakistan, particularly in KP and northern areas like Swat, is preferred. 

  • Experience in managing projects with complex logistics, resource planning, and risk management related to startups, social entrepreneurship and business plan implementation. 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in project management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field. 

  • Professional certification in Project Management is an asset. 

  • Language Proficiency: 

  • Fluency in English, Urdu (both written and spoken) and Pushto is essential.
