The organization is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change, and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience, and promote long-term health and well-being. People living in fragile settings face complex, interconnected, and deep-rooted crises that often tear a hole in the social fabric of communities. When this happens, our teams work closely with community leaders, first focusing on critical health needs and then, as communities recover, focusing on both health and wellbeing programming that helps reweave the social fabric for greater resilience in the future.
Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education, and Livelihoods programming that is safe, truly local, conflict sensitive, climate-smart, evidence-based, and reaches those in need.
It is a 60-year-old international NGO alliance product of mergers and alliances between four organizations. The organization is looking to hire the services of an individual consultant(s)/ Master Trainer /reputable firm with experience in digital skill content development and to conduct staff three days ToT on Digital Skills in Peshawar KPK.
Background
The organization in partnership with GIZ-SSARC, is implementing a project named MHPSS- DigiLive Support Program in four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, with the Program Goal of “To strengthen social cohesion and foster enhanced resilience, self-reliance, and psychosocial well-being among Afghan refugees and host communities in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Mardan districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. Promoting social cohesion aims to facilitate a dignified life for all individuals”.
Under Mental Health and Psychosocial Support component, the organization intend to provide two days MHPSS integrated Robotics Training to 200 female and male, aims to enhance the well-being of young participants while providing multiple benefits. These include,
i) Developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills
ii) Fostering creativity, innovation, and design thinking
iii) Building hands-on technical skills through practical experimentation
iv) Encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication
v) Equipping participants with essential skills for future careers in technology
This combined approach offers a holistic development platform for youth, preparing them for both personal growth and professional success.
Preparation and support for, during and after the workshop
- Plan and prepare for the training workshop and organize necessary materials in close coordination with MHPSS and digi-live support program, (MDSP) project team.
- Provide support in the documentation such as attendance sheets, pictures, and application of monitoring questionnaires, and submission of report on the completion of training.
1. Implementation of the trainings
The Consultant will conduct 10 training sessions, each lasting 2 days, for 100 female and 100 male participants, with an average group size of 20 individuals. In addition, the Consultant will hold one-day refresher courses, totalling 10 sessions, covering basic robotics. The Consultant is responsible for executing the following tasks.
- Train 20 persons in each training session on the theoretical knowledge listed below:
- Overview of basic knowledge about problem solving techniques
- Orientation to information technology
- Introduction to Robotics and how robots work
- Introduction to computer programming and how computer programs advise robots
- Orientation to the further resources on Robots and programming of robots.
- Engage the participating members in group activities from Afghan refugees and host community to provide them a platform to interact with each other, understand each other better, so that at the end of the training the participating members have enhanced their understanding and reduced prejudices and preconceived notions of each other as well as of each other’s community.
- Train the participating female and male members of the trainings on problem solving and computational techniques with a focus on robots' development so they learn problem solving techniques as well.
- In the practical part, train 20 persons in each training session on Robots developed on the micro-bit and Arduino platforms, so that at the end of the workshop, the participating members has the capacity to develop a robot on their own.
2. Follow-up Sessions
The Consultant shall provide follow up refresher session to 200 persons for one day to answer the questions while further developing the robots, give practical hints on technical parts as well as practical small exercises.

Deliverables
Submission of the report on the completion of two days 20 trainings and one day 20 refreshers till 25 December 2024. The report shall cover the following core aspects: assessment of young people with strong communication skills, problem solving, interaction among host and refugees on assignments, how they will continue with the practical part.
Note: The organization will arrange a training venue, Lunch/ refreshments, stationery for the participants, and other expenses. Master trainers/individuals/consultants/firms will be responsible for boarding, lodging, and travel to training venues in Charsadda, Mardan Nowshera and Peshawar KPK.
Payment Schedule:
The Master Trainer/individual/consultants/firms will receive payment as per the following deliverables;
- 30% at the time of signing of contract
- 50% after the module submission, sessions, and assessments.
- 20% on submission of final reports
Eligibility Criteria for Master Trainer/individual/consultants/firms
The Consultant (or firm) shall have at least:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, social sciences or arts.
- Minimum of three years relevant experience in robot's development or electronics.
- Three years’ experience as a trainer/teacher.
