You’ll be key in providing technical expertise to streamline our data collection and management systems, supporting the largest global cotton sustainability program.
As part of the IT & Data team, you’ll work closely with various teams and field partners to implement and enhance mobile-based data collection tools such as CommCare, optimising our ability to capture critical data in the field. Your contributions will drive positive environmental and social outcomes across the cotton industry.

Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated Digitalisation Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for:
CommCare Application Development and Maintenance:
- Design, build, and maintain CommCare applications to meet the needs of field data collection.
- Work with field teams to gather requirements and tailor CommCare applications to suit the data collection and reporting needs of the country operations.
Mobile Data Collection Solutions Implementation:
- Develop, configure, and integrate mobile data collection tools (such as CommCare, ODK) to support field operations.
- Ensure applications are functioning optimally and address any issues promptly to maintain smooth field data workflows.
User Training and Capacity Building:
- Provide hands-on training and ongoing technical support to field staff and program partners to enable effective use of CommCare applications.
- Develop training materials and documentation for users to ensure best practices in data collection and management.
- Monitor the performance and functionality of CommCare applications and systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, resolving or escalating as needed to ensure minimal disruption to field operations.
- Collaborate closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) teams to ensure data collection solutions meet their analysis and reporting needs.
- Work with other IT, Program, and Standards teams to align digital tools with programmatic goals and standards.
- Implement best practices in data management, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security across all platforms.
- Work with the IT & Security team to safeguard sensitive field data.
- Continuously assess and improve the performance of digital tools, recommending and implementing upgrades and innovations to meet evolving program requirements.
- Stay updated on new developments and trends in mobile data collection and incorporate them into our systems.

Beyond these specific responsibilities, the position is expected to collaborate on additional activities agreed with the line manager - Pakistan and matrix manager (s) from Better Cotton global team.
We are looking for someone who has:
the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in CommCare application development and management.
- Strong understanding of mobile-based data collection tools (CommCare, ODK) and other relevant technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in delivering tailored technical solutions.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to train and support non-technical users in using digital tools.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable
- Previous experience in the development or sustainability sector.
- Experience with other digital platforms like Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce.
- Background in capacity building and training field-based staff.
- Interest in sustainability and the desire to contribute to a greener, more equitable world.

Working arrangements
The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based in Lahore - Pakistan. Better Cotton offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am – 4 pm. The position might require travel domestically as well as internationally, if needed.
